About the event
An exhibtion by Dominic Cooper, Josie Swift, Leon Scott-Engel, Tom Enoch and Zane Drees.
Doppelgänger explores the presence of the artists body within the working practice. Each of the six exhibiting artists engage their own body to create two- and three-dimensional works forming a doppelgänger; a non-biological apparition of the self. The modes of transmission, and forms with which each doppelgänger presents itself, vary within the group, from life casts, to the performative use of the artists body, to autobiographical subtexts and an ironic critique of the self. All in different forms, with varied intentions, the artists practices are united through the critique of their body and identity; a critique which engages a dialogue with the viewer’s own sense of self, questioning if the doppelgängers extend beyond the artist and into the space of the audience.
