About the event

Please save the date and join us for the opening of Boys with Books at 6pm on Friday 10th March. As part of the opening there will also be a series of readings from members of the Art Writing programme, readings will commence at 7pm. 

The exhibition will open on Friday 10th March from 6pm-9pm.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 11th until Monday 13th March, 2023 from 12pm-6pm.

This collaborative exhibition explores, expands and informs the definition of art writing, alongside the position and practice of the art writer. Showcasing art and expanded writing practices from current students on the Art Writing programme, and featuring new work by Kate Briggs, writer, translator and current School of Fine Art Practitioner-in-Residence at The Glasgow School of Art.

As part of this exhibition programme the Art Writing cohort is proud to host a book-length reading by CAConrad as part of the 30 th Anniversary celebrations of The Book of Frank. This event will be introduced by Mason Leaver-Yap, and CAConrad will then give a book- length read The Book of Frank.

This event will take place on Sunday 12 th March at 2pm, at French Street, G40 4EH. CAConrad has worked with the ancient technologies of poetry and ritual since 1975. They are the author of 9 books, including AMANDA PARADISE: Resurrect Extinct Vibration (Wave Books, 2021), which won the 2022 PEN Josephine Miles Award. They received a 2022 Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize, a Creative Capital grant, a Pew Fellowship, and a Lambda Award. They exhibit poems as art objects with recent solo shows in Spain and Portugal, and their play The Obituary Show was made into a film in 2022 by Augusto Cascales. UK Penguin published two books in 2023, and a new collection of poetry is forthcoming from Wave Books in 2024 titled Listen to the Golden Boomerang Return. Mason Leaver-Yap works with artists to produce texts, exhibitions, and events. Recent projects include work with Ingrid Pollard, Renée Green and Free Agent Media, Oreet Ashery, Emily Wardill, Stefanie Heinze, Onyeka Igwe, Winnie Herbstein, Ima-Abasi Okon, Beatrice Gibson, Laura Guy, Sunil Gupta and the Estate of Tessa Boffin, Andrea Büttner, Iman Issa, Uri Aran, and Jimmy Robert.
