About the event
A Rose is a Rose and is Not a Rose
Is it possible to ascribe meaning to humour through the lens of art? How can this help construct an alternative view of humour, and thereby comedy?
GNASH presents ‘A Rose is a Rose and is Not a Rose’, bringing together a selection of artists and writers in Glasgow who are currently exploring humour and what it means in their work.
Drawing from ideas found in psychology, philosophy and phenomenology, ‘A Rose is a Rose and is Not a Rose’ explores the role that semiotics, language and temporality play in shaping our experience of amusement, and invites audiences to move towards an artistic and critical understanding of humour and laughter.
Additional readings and performances taking place at the private view.
Curated by Phoebe Crawford, founder of ‘GNASH’ event series.
